The JCW Team

It's been six years since MINI produced the incredible limited edition
MINI JCW GP.
Made in Italy at Bertone's BMW’s C1 scooter factory, the MINI GP production capacity was limited to just
2000 cars using the best of the JCW parts and vehicle add-ons as well as parts made as completely bespoke for the MINI GP.
Now after a six year period, MINI feels the time is right to reintroduce this super car as the
MINI JCW GP2, which is rumoured to launch at the
end of 2012.
MINI won't release any specifics about the MINI JCW GP2 but to date this is what we've heard through various sources:
The MINI JCW GP2 will be based on the MINI R56 and follow in the tradition of the first GP
There will be the "classic" version based on the original MINI JCW GP and later, a Coupe version to follow
MINI will finish the cars away from normal production line at Plant Oxford with unique parts both inside and out.
The MINI JCW GP2 will have a rear aero and a large rear wing similar to the MINI Challenge.
The new MINI JCW GP2 will have a unique JCW body kit. MINI’s emphasis will be on achieving a lighter weight, so the GP2 may come without rear seats installed.
The price is still very much kept secret but we'd expect to see the MINI GP2 costing more than it's predecessor the MINI GP which was sold for around £22,000 ($31,000).
As part of MINI's rebranding to differentiate the John Cooper Works (JCW) line of cars from the other class of MINI, MINI AG (BMW) have announced that the JCW Areokit will now become standard on all JCW MINIs from 2012. It's a welcome move in the right direction to make the JCW brand more special - an increase in plant capacity and a simplier installation process allowed the change to take place.
In addition, the JCW front grill has been enlarged by 10mm to
make the JCW look more aggresive!

MINI has now released the MINI Roadster into the MINI online configurator which lets users build, design and buy their own MINIs. Included in th online configurator is a
John Cooper Works version of the MINI Roadster which sports the standard
JCW accessories and also list a few sexy option extras to make your John Cooper Works version that little bit more special.
However, the configurator in the USA has had far more time
and money dedicated to it at the moment than it's european counterpart
sites
- the result is a rather disappointing experience on the any
european MINI
configurator (which is a shame as MINI is a British brand and
BMW are a German company) but a fantastic animated experience on the american
MINI site. To see the Roadster JCW at its best visit the American configuator
here. Well worth a look!
MINI has released the
updated John Cooper Works tuning kit for the
Cooper S.
HP is up to 200hp and torque remains at 199 lb-ft of torque due to the clutch and transmission not being rated for higher numbers.
As before the tuning kit comes with an updated intake, exhaust and software.
MINI John Cooper Works have also released a new 18″
wheel for
the R55, R56 and R57. The Cross Spoke Red Stripe fits well
within JCW’s new black and red motif and is the best looking JCW
wheel (outside of the new R60 19″ wheels) we’ve ever seen from
the brand.
